Claude

Claude can look into the IP databases your organization is licensed for. It connects to our hosted MCP server, https://mcp.internetdata.io/mcp, you sign in with your InternetData account, and every tool is read-only.

In claude.ai, the desktop app and Cowork

Go to Customize > Connectors, click Add custom connector and enter https://mcp.internetdata.io/mcp. If Claude asks how it should identify itself, choose Use Claude's published identity: there's no client ID or secret to enter. Click Connect, sign in, pick which of your organization's API keys the connection uses, and approve.

On a Team or Enterprise plan an Owner adds it once under Organization settings > Connectors, and each member then connects with their own account.

In Claude Code

Install the InternetData plugin. It adds the same server, with skills for reading a database's contents, checking its files and downloads, and analyzing a copy:

/plugin marketplace add internetdata/claude-plugin
/plugin install internetdata@internetdata

It asks you to sign in the first time one of its tools runs. To add the server alone, without the skills:

claude mcp add --transport http internetdata https://mcp.internetdata.io/mcp

Then run /mcp, pick internetdata and sign in. Once it's connected, ask something like "Which IP databases are we licensed for, and how big is the latest VPN build?".

What the plugin adds

Your API key

Claude never sees the key; our server uses it on your behalf. The key needs the db.download scope, which your organization's Default key has. Databases are licensed by contract: see the API documentation or request an evaluation. Approving needs permission to share your organization's API keys, and asks you to confirm it's you. You can disconnect it at any time from the console, under Settings > Sessions & devices > Connected applications; access ends within about a minute.
